A Love Letter to Time, and an Open Invitation Forward

For the past 18 months, I’ve given myself something most of us forget to protect: time.

Time to reflect.
Time to rebuild clarity.
Time to realign with purpose.
Time is a currency.
When we starve ourselves of it, we often lose our direction long before we realize it.
Years ago, I learned to treat time not as something to fill, but as something to claim and protect.
Since stepping away from my last corporate role 18 months ago, I’ve intentionally chosen not to rush into the next title or opportunity. Instead, I invested in work that mattered, leadership that felt aligned, and spaces that allowed me to show up fully as myself.
This season has been deliberate, and here’s what that time has held.
I redefined my identity and leadership lens, grounding my work in clarity, trust, and human-centred impact.
I founded HER Seat at the Table, designing and producing in-person and virtual experiences that support leaders through moments of transition, confidence-building, and courageous change. Through POP-IN Sessions, AHA Series conversations, and live events, I’ve created spaces where people can pause, reflect, and unlock what is often hidden: clarity, purpose, voice, and confidence.
During this time, the work behind HER Seat at the Table was recognized in ways I never anticipated. I was named a Top 3 finalist for the CMEE Hall of Fame for founding the community, a reminder that when we give ourselves time to build with care, the impact often speaks louder than urgency ever could.
I partnered with global agencies on consultancy projects to reimagine large-scale event strategy and experience design, and consulted with a hospitality technology company on redesigning their user conference.
I worked directly with corporate teams to support the vision, strategy, and logistics behind internal events, ensuring experiences aligned with both business goals and human needs.
I helped a CEO design a conference experience that left teams and partners feeling more connected, valued, and aligned than when they arrived.
I coached and mentored individuals as they stepped into new chapters of their careers, often during moments of uncertainty or transition.
I’ve stood on stages, joined podcasts, and spoken with students to share a consistent leadership message: that being a change maker requires courage, that we are stronger when we lead empowered together, and that investing in HER means investing in how we honour, empower, and uplift one another.
Every one of these conversations circles back to the same truth. Our journeys are rarely straight lines, but clarity and an understanding of the value of time allow us to be intentional with our next steps and ensure we’re moving forward on the right path.
There’s one more part of this season that matters deeply to me. I was present at home as a mother and partner. I invested in the quality of our communication, our connection, and our time together. That is something I will never exchange. It grounded me, shaped my perspective, and reinforced why clarity, boundaries, and intentional leadership matter so much.
This season has been a gift. One I don’t take lightly.
It has been my love letter to time, and to the clarity that only comes when we allow ourselves the space to listen.
A Note on CAY VII INC
CAY VII INC has always been, and will continue to be, my leadership brand.
It is not separate from who I am or how I work. It is the framework through which I lead, collaborate, and deliver.
Over the past seven years, every role, engagement, and contract I’ve taken on has been led through CAY VII INC. This is how I integrate seamlessly into teams, whether as a contracted leader, strategic advisor, or embedded partner supporting special projects or defined roles.
I don’t operate on the sidelines. I work within organizations.
I align with teams, culture, and objectives, while bringing clarity, structure, and a people-first lens to the work. This approach has allowed me to step into environments quickly, build trust, and lead with accountability and shared ownership.
CAY VII INC isn’t a distraction from employment. It’s how I show up as a leader.
What’s Next
With HER Seat at the Table now supported by stronger systems and a more community-led foundation, I’m ready for the next chapter.
I’ll be honest. This step feels different.
For my entire career, opportunities came through careful alignment, trusted relationships, and intention. I’ve never had to publicly say I was looking. But I believe deeply in the power of community, and I also know that meaningful roles are often found through conversation, not just applications.
The application process can be daunting and emotionally draining. I’m choosing to lead this search differently, with openness, clarity, and trust in my network.
I’m exploring full-time or contract opportunities where I can contribute my experience in:
Strategic experience and event leadership
Building trust-based, long-term partnerships
Community and people-centred leadership
Aligning vision, operations, and human impact
I’m not in a rush. Alignment matters more than speed, because how and where I invest my time next matters.
If you know of opportunities, teams, or leaders who value thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and human-first strategy, I would welcome a conversation or a warm introduction.
Thank you for being part of my journey.
Thank you for the quiet encouragement, the belief, and the shared paths forward.
With clarity and intention,
Connie Cay-Santos
