Project Overview
Tourism Burnaby’s first-ever virtual stakeholder conference was designed to bring industry partners together during a time of rapid disruption—creating a collaborative, engaging environment to align stakeholders, share insights, and shape future tourism strategies.
Scope of Work
Contracted by Tourism Burnaby, Connie Cay-Santos led the end-to-end design and delivery of the organization’s first virtual stakeholder conference.
This included platform selection and management across multiple technologies, program and experience design for keynotes, breakouts, and networking, technical partner coordination and speaker enablement, and full execution from pre-event planning through live delivery and post-event reporting.


How I Lead the Project
I guided Tourism Burnaby through an unfamiliar and high-stakes transition to virtual, serving as both strategic advisor and execution lead.
My approach focused on experience-first design, ensuring the technology supported human connection rather than overshadowing it. I translated the organization’s goals into an accessible, interactive virtual environment, while coordinating multiple platforms, partners, and stakeholders to deliver a cohesive experience.
By prioritizing preparation, speaker confidence, and technical readiness, I ensured a smooth and professional event despite the complexity of managing multiple tools and engagement formats in a fully virtual setting.
Impact & Why It Matters
Successfully delivered Tourism Burnaby’s first virtual stakeholder conference, exceeding attendance targets with 66 participants against a goal of 50.
The event enabled meaningful collaboration and dialogue, achieved seamless multi-platform execution with minimal technical disruption, and delivered comprehensive post-event insights through platform analytics, Google Analytics, and stakeholder feedback. The approach established a replicable model for future virtual and hybrid engagements.
